looks nice, if its cheap. I hope ATI is putting dev teams on next-gen cards, though, instead of pumping out current-gen cards to try to beat nvidia.

According to that article it's tentatively being priced at $349. If it was ~$300 it'd be a much better prospect in my book. Tomorrow both my 7800GT's are going to new homes so if it arrives in stores shortly and the reviews are good i'd consider it as a replacement.

Considering the article is translated from Chinese, it's not that bad :p

A X1800XT whips this card. Why release it at the $349 price point when the X1800XT 512/256 is already selling at lower prices than that?

Plus a 7900GT beats the X1900GT!

Maybe the x1800 cards are just of dumping of remaining stock or a stopgap measure until they have the 1900gt ready. That's why they're so cheap. The x1900gt might be new production. Sort of like what happened with the ATI 9500/9600 series and the Nvida 6800GS cards.

While I agree a MSRP of $350 isnt that great, considering the street price of the X1800's. However, cards usually drop under MSRP rather fast. If its about the same price of the X1800XT, it wouldnt be a bad card. Single slot, and probaby quieter.

Thats the MSRP. Street prices generally can sink $0-75 dollars lower. $50 is fairly typical.

However its not new production but something to fill before the X1900XL comes.

Do you mean they're using chips that wouldn't cut it as x1900xt/x?

Also assuming the performance of an x1900xl is between a gt and an xt, wouldn't it either kill the sales of the xt if it's cheap or die on the vine if it's too pricey?

So the 1900GT costs more and performs less?

Sounds great!

That isn't really HURT. Plus the X1900GT can'e vmod to insane speeds like the 7900GT can.

Yes. The X1900XL uses a different core i believe.

I already have 2 X1800XT's but due to me passing on my 7800GT's tomorrow I will be looking at X1900GT's & 7900GT's to replace them.

I do like the look of the cooler on the X1900GT but i'll be putting Water in anyway, I have a spare CF Motherboard and will re-use my A64 3500+. I am going to move 1 X1800XT across to this machine for a month to see how reviews fare on the X1900GT before plumping my cash on any replacements.

Yes Joker, after tomorrow i'll not have a nVidia card to play with (besides an old GF3 Ti-500).

I don't think they'll go further than X1900XT/XTX's to be honest. Still, i'm not going to vmod (not even software) at all so it wouldn't matter to me. Be interesting to see how they o/c with vmods tho.

Eh, with ATI Tool you can change the voltage, no mod required

HKEPC always seems to have the scoop.

I'm surprised they didn't try to unlock it.

That's the only thing that will make this card interesting.

If you believe the Inq, ATI is having problems finding defective cores to make into lower end models. Unless they laser cut bridges, there's a non-zero chance the low end parts will unlock into full-fledged versions. Could be interesting, depending on pricing.

I'm hoping my X850XTPE will last me well into next year, when the first DX10 parts make the current gen as affordable as my X850XTPE was. =)
