1900+ Heatsink Question

Hey guys, I might end up getting a 1900+ Athlon this Christmas, (it's good to know your family knows how much you like computers), and I was wondering if you think that my Mini Super Orb should be able to keep it mildly cool. From what I hear, the old 1.4 Tbirds are still the hotest Athlons to date by far, and I don't see one exploding with "just" a mini super orb on it. Plus, we've got a system running at my tech school with a 1900+ and the Speeze cooler that came on it looked kinda wimpy, but it keeps it cool just dandy.

:: Note to crazy people, a.k.a serious overclockers :: Any OCing I would be doing with this thing would be VERY slight. Like making it run 2000+ speeds or so. No, I don't need a cooler to take me to 1.8 ghz and higher, just need it to run, so no telling me to get a (louda$$ed) Alpha. It ain't happening.

lol so i guess that warning goes to me
maybe just stick iwth the retail then

if not, that cooler would be enough if its working on a 1.4tbird (they were hot ones)

Actually, it's currently working on a 1ght Athlon. Pretty well too. Only time it gets above 47C is when it gets really dirty....and that's for what my old toothbrush is.

Heat Dissapation on the Athlon 1.4ghz is around 72.1W.

Palomino based XP 1900+ comes in at 68.0W and Thoroughbred based XP 1900+ at 52.5W (Source = Anandtech).

So no worries! In fact, if it's a Thoroughbred then it actually produces less heat than your Tbird 1ghz (55.1W).
