I'm looking to replace an old CRT with a new 19" Widescreen LCD and, given my low budget, have come up with a pretty nice contender and was wondering if anyone could help fill in some gaps and offer some recommendations to help me make my decision.
>> The most important question I have, regarding the Acer AL1916W(asd), is the colors. I am unble to find a reliable source to confirm if it is actually 16.7million colors (24-bit) or not as this would be a real deal breaker. Does anyone know or able to confirm this?

And if anyone has any first-hand experience with this monitor (this is the DVI & VGA model) it would be much appreciated - I read a lot of reviews and aside on this model and most are pretty positive aside from some tradeoffs such as bag viewing angles and colors but in general, for the $190CDN price, it seems like a good buy.
Any information, comments, feedback, and/or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

postmortemIA: meaning it is a BAD lcd? (sounds like you are implying it isn't worth the buy). Why not? Anything else in that price range to recommend (19" Wide)?

And I have all those specs, I am specifically looking for the COLORS (16.2m or 16.7m)?
Thanks,

it is "fair" ... and some are worse than others from what i've seen

i don't like ANY lcds ... not even the very expensive ones ... so i am not the one to ask ... it is "fair" in every regard ... not so good on the viewing angles ...
... but it has ONE advantage ... cheap ...

postmortemIA: This might be a stupid question (and if so I'm sorry) but 262144 means what exactly? 6-bit 16.2m or 8-bit 16.7m?

n7: ya a little out of my price range...

Thanks,

I have the the AL1916W. First off the viewing angle is atrocious, but I assume that's the same with all TN panels. Like sitting too low makes the top noticeably darker so better make sure this will sit above/at eye level. Second of all, the colors are OK I guess, but I haven't had much experience with 'high' end monitors since I am cheap (lol). I pretty much did a lot of adjustments to saturation, brightness, and contrast which spruced it up quite nicely.
