19" Monitors recc. (but out of a much smaller range...)

I'm searching for a 19" monitor and while searchs have brought up plenty of threads like this and lots of recommendations I'm not able to get most/some of these monitors because I live in NZ 🙂

So basically I'm just wondering what are the best monitors out of :

AOC 9KLR Flatscreen 19" Monitor
KTC Flatscreen 19" Monitor
LG 900B 19" Monitor
Philips 109S 19" Monitor
Philips 109P Flatscreen 19" Monitor
Samsung 955DF Flatscreen 19" Monitor
Sony G420 Flatscreen 19" Monitor
Vibrant VM91 19" Monitor
Viewsonic PF790 Flatscreen 19" Monitor
Viewsonic E95 19" Monitor
Viewsonic P90F 19" Monitor

I'm sure I could find a couple of others if someone suggests something that completely out-classes any of these. These listed monitors are just all easily available for me :\

Anyway, thanks for your help

My reccomendation is go for the Sony if your budget allows or the Samsung if you need to save some cash.

Yup, I am using a Sony G420 - it rules! The only thing wrong with it would be wrong with all of these monitors, it is physically really big. A 17 or 18 inch flat panel would be really cool - maybe in a year or two. I didn't realize how small my desk at college would be. I hated it when I had to go home for Thanksgiving and look at my old Dell 17" curved screen - it just felt so inadequate.

You should look into the NEC or Mitsubishi monitors with Super Bright Technology. Those things are just so beautiful and it completely outclasses all the other monitors. They had it side by side with Samsung and Sony and it cannot be compared to them. The color is so clear and rich it's just so amazing.

I can't seem to find a Mitsubishi monitor anywhere.. 🙁

The only NEC monitor I can find (I'm starting to look in slightly more obscure places..) is a MultiSync V921.
What NEC models are the ones I should be looking for?

So that means, so far the G420 looks like the best bet.

[Ed] Or perhaps a Compaq P920? Someone recommended a 910 somewhere... is the 920 better/worse/any good?

Just realised how expensive the p920 is.. bah. :disgust:

The Mitsubishi monitors are hard to come by and are usually more expensive, some people say that although they are the same company and use the same tubes the Mitsubishi is better because it uses higher quality components.

The NEC Multisync 991 is the good NEC monitor. It's pretty expensive compared to other CRTs of the same size though. The image quality really is unbeatable. If it's possible look for any monitor brand that uses the Diamondtron tube. I remember having an old monitor that used that tube and it was very nice (same tube as the NEC and Mitsubishi ones I mentioned). I remember Iyama selling monitors with those tubes but they are expensive as well.

Out of the ones you listed I would go for the Samsung of the Sony. I have a 21 inch Samsung and a 19 inch Sony they are both pretty good. My Samsung had problems with the screen going yellow (it's refurbished and very old though) all I did was clean the cable connectors and it's fine now. Still going strong.

I own the monitor fyleow was speaking about (NEC Multisync FE991SB). I highly reccomend it. It has great image quality and I'm yet to experience any problems with it. Monitor quality is largely subjective, but I believe you would be happy with the NEC.
