19" Monitor...Which one to Buy?

Ive got It to three monitor:

Sony G420 19'=$388 shipped
Nec Fp955 19'=$390 shipped
Viewsonic P95F 19'=$406 shipped

Does anyone have these monitors or have ya read any reviews?...Also im up for other sug.

i recently picked up a compaq p910 and have been very happy with it
the p910's can be found deeply discounted due to the new p920....i got mine for 150 +shipping...so about 200 altogether
the 910 is diamondtron, so nice and flat...will run clear up to 1920x1440 at 70..or a more manageable 1600x1200 at 85
nice monitor you could pick up a lot cheaper than those...and the compaq logo isn't THAT hard to cover up
mine's now a guinness draught monitor
about a 1/4 of a keg label does it nicely

I just got a Sony Trinitron G400 from my local Sams Club for $320 with extended warrenty (total 4 years). It looks very nice so far. Great monitor. I would make the same choice in a heartbeat. Good luck

I recently bought a Viewsonic PF790 from gateway.com for about $360 shipped, I think. Excellent monitor!! I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Colors are vibrant and text is crisp. I'm glad I got it!!

I don't see why you miss the Samsung 900NF from that list. I also believe it goes for $350 in the US.

It's hard choice but many here will opt for the Samsung.

I'm using a Sony G400 at work. I personally wouldn't buy this monitor myself unless it was a great price, only because of the 2 lines on the Trinitron tube. Everything else about the monitor is great, but I have seen other monitors that look just as good without the lines. Just my opinion though.

I like the NEC the best of the 3 you listed.

the reason I didnt want the Samsung 955DF is because the refresh rates sux...Im not lookin for a cheap monitor, im lookin for something that looks great for games and has hight refresh rate that will last a very long time....Thx for all the sug.,im leaning towards the sony...

Like I said you cannot go wrong with a Samsung 900NF.

As for buying Sony, ignore their E line, that's economy. You should want G or F (the latter is the top end, price wise too).

NEC/Mitsubishi. Both use Diamontron tubes unless you go for a shadow mask model. Should be find but hard to say without testing.

Viewsonic has also produced some crisp screens.

It's a hard one to call. It's what name you like and what looks. Almost all have the same specifications.

I am pretty much a die hard sony fan.... have 3 monitors.... 1 CTX professional line, an ADI Microscan 5gt, and a 20" fixed signal Sun / Sony GDM 1100 or something like that.... but the first 2 are 17" and the last oine is a 20" that can only do a few resolutions....

anyways, if 2 hairlines annoy you when you are in games that happen to have a solid background where you can see the lines, then dont get a sony... but they are the crispest monitors out there.... At least a monitor with a sony tube is what I would choose.

I know some people who have had some problems with viewsonics and power / flickers....

Nec and Mitsubishi would be my second choice.

I dont know what ADI is doing now, but I have yet to have a problem with mine, its been an excellent monitor.

Samsung or KDS would be my third choice... they arent necessarrily cheap, but I know what you are saying about them. They are the best for me to bundle with new systems, not for my desk.

I'm going to buy a 19" monitor myself soon, and I'm seriously leaning towards the NEC MultiSync FE950+, partly because it looks like a good monitor that I can get for $295 @ newegg, and partly because I can get it in black, which will match the Antec PP660B case I'm gonna buy. But if any of you have any comments on it, I'd appreciate hearing them.

I have the Sony G420 and it's great. It has razor sharp text and very bright and rich colours.
