Right now i'm using a 21" nokia CRT (bought for $100 because there's a small scratch on the screen) and an old 17" CRT as a secondary monitor. Since i can't play games on the second monitor anyway (its used mostly for extraneous windows on the screen), i'm thinking about buying an LCD 19" with a $500 gift card.
Question is, can i buy a lower quality one like a ~30ms response time, 350:1 contrast ratio since i'm only going to be using it for business/productivity apps? I can buy a lower end 19" LCD for around $500 but it's going to cost closer to $700 for a better quality one.
OR, i can spend $250 on a lower quality 17" LCD and use the remaining $250 to buy something else. That sounds like a decent idea since this is only going to be a secondary monitor.
OR i can buy a good quality 21" diamondtron and have two 21" CRTs on my desk. I dont really have the space, but my 21" is really dark looking because i think there's an antiglare coating on the screen. It's half as old as my 17" and the 17" is still noticably brighter. When i'm playing CS, half the time i can't see people in the dark, even with gamma turned up. Brightness levels are maxed out.
