I just bought an 19' LCD ( well 2 weeks ago) and have noticed one single red pixel that after researchign is a defected pixel. Should i pursue or of concern or is it normal? Thanks

If it is along an edge and doesn't bother you and wouldn't be concerned.
My present monitor is a Samsung 204T which I purchased as an Open Box buy at BB.
It had a constant on pixel (yellow on upper edge). It has since disappeared, maybe burned out? Anyway it has never been a problem for me.

If you are a "Monk" type though you may want to take it back.

Newegg I for instance will only take it back if:
** Dead Pixels Policy: Replacement or Refund for 8 or more dead pixels only.

I read that it is not uncommon for LCD's to have a constant on pixel or dead pixel and that even a with replacment it is not garunteed. The one I have would be a constant on pixel but red. I am just curious if others who have bought new have had such problems? This is my first LCD so i am not sure.

no way, keep it, unless you notice far more dead pixels and it is under warranty still.

you could try rubbing the defective pixel with a qtip/cotton swab if you have good reason.
this could fix it.

i tried it somewhat on mine, one dead in the corner, but I didn't apply much pressure (didn't want to), so it remains dead.
