Check out the Samsung M70. 19" detachable monitor with a resolution of 1680x1050. You can hook it up to the laptop or attach it to a base. They also mention you can leave the screen at home and carry the base unit with you to use a monitor in your office or wherever. Specs:

Windows XP Pro
2ghz Pentium M
100gb hard drive
DVD burner
128mb Nvidia Geforce Go 6600
19" WSXGA+ TFT @ 1680x1050
5-in-1 card reader
Bluetooth
Gigabit ethernet
56k modem
802.11b/g
4 USB 2.0 ports
PC Card
9.7 pounds (not bad! my 15.4" Gateway is 7.5 pounds)

They say the battery life is 4.5 hours, so it's probably more like 3 hours. Runs $4,000 with a gig of ram, add $229 for 1.5 gigs or $399 for 2 gigs. Photos available here.

good idea, but wow expensive lets see what happens when OLED or SED is mainstream even thinner. What should be tight is if the whole computer desktop itself was in a keyboard everything wireless and no batterys what so ever.

Its pretty expensive for what it is... and a 19" screen is no longer really portable its basically a desktop. Still pretty cool though, but right now that price is waaaay too high for the hardware you get with it.

16 pounds :Q

:QDamn, the price is out of this world for a single laptop that weighs 16#.
Why would anyone buy a laptop that weighs that much when you can get 2 Dell I600Ms instead, and still have money left over to buy an ipod?

They should make plastic LCDs and carbon fiber circuit boards to lighten notebooks. A 19" would still be pretty heavy but it would be better.

I think a laptop like this fills a nice niche for people that only need mobility once in a while and not on a daily basis.

Not designed for the road warrior at all. Sort of a "portable" at best. Imagine trying to open that screen on a tray while flying.
