They have refurbished Viewsonic PF790's at computers4sure.com for $280 plus $17 shipping. The PF790 is an awesome monitor, is uses the same tube as the Samsung 900NF and Sony G400.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Unless something drastically changes any time soon, there's no way I'd get any other monitor besides an iiyama. Here's a link to their products site. I like these monitors better than the Sony Trinitron's even. Have a look for yourself and good lunk in your search.

I have an iiyama Vision Master Pro 450. It's the i90A that they are selling for $300 refurbished here. That same monitor is the i91A this year. I paid $550 for mine only a year ago. These are an outright steal now. You can get a brand new i91A from CDW, here, for around $350 shipped. The Vision Master is close to the same price shipped (from the same place - CDW) here.

If you feel comfortable buying refurbished monitors, the deals mentioned look good. Personally, I'd get a new one because it has a longer warranty. For under 350$, the Samsung 955DF is probably the best deal. I'd definitely get a flat monitor.

pay - the Samsung 900NF uses a DiamondTron tube, whereas the G400 uses an FD Trinitron.

UNLTuba - must you insist on using the wrong spelling of the company name? It's iiyama, not liyama. Even the freaking web site says so! :)

Sheesh - I capitalize one friggin' letter and I'm spelling it wrong? iiyama, Iiyama, iIyama, iiYama, iiyAma, iiyaMa, iiyamA... WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? They're still sweet monitors regardless of how you spell it. :D

EDIT: The iiyama's also use the DiamondTron tubes...

For under $350, I recommend...

NEC FE950+ ~$320
KDS AV-195TF ~$320
Mitsubishi DiamondPro 900u ~$340
Iiyama i90A $350
Hitachi CM771 ~$350
NEC AccuSync 95F ~$240
Samsung SyncMaser 955DF ~$280

Just a side note, the PF790 uses the DiamondTron NF which is not the same as Sony G400's FDTrinitron. And the Iiyama i91A and i90A are not exactly the same thing, the i91A has a 160MHz video bandwidth, compare to i90A's superior 300MHz.

I have a Samsung Sync-Master 900IFT and I'd highly recommend the newer version of my last year model monitor.. 900NF? I am not sure.. either way, this Samsung monitor kicks alot of arse, I'd put in a vote for a 19" Samsung monitor.

I own the Hitachi CM771's. Putting in a vote for the Samsung 955df. Sweet deal at its price. It is however larger than my Hitachi's so if you plan on moving it around, it's gonna suck.

I love my Samsung 17", and I also like my KDS 19". They are the 753DF (akin to a 19" DF series), and the AV-195TF.

The 900IFT and 900NF are completely different monitors. The NF is an aperture grill while the IFT line uses flat shadow mask tubes.

I found a great deal on the G400 if your still interested... Just call up staples and ask them for their G400 which costs $530. Then tell them to pricematch it to this: http://store.yahoo.com/multi-com/sonmulg419in.html. Then they'll match it down to $395. After that tell them about the $40 off $200 deal (Code: 80319). That bumps it down to $355 and I heard shipping is around $10, but i dont know if its true. On staples.com it said that most items that cost over $150 get free shipping. Just call them up and ask what they charge to ship to your home. All in all it should be around ~370.. Which isnt bad for a new G400 that retails at $500.

Pay, can you PM items that are out of stock? Also, is shipping really only 10 bucks for a monitor at Staples?
