My monitor has been running strong for 8 years, but ever since I put it in storage it has been flickering a red hue upon turning on. Sometimes it will just turn itself off. I can turn it back on but this just doesn't seem normal.

Should I start shopping for an lcd?

The dampness from keeping your monitor in storage might have damaged the components inside. Maybe just keep it running and it might sort itself out

-but yeah shopping for a new LCD is probably a good idea

I've just made the jump from CRT to LCD and I'm as happy as larry

I think 3/4 of monitor problems seem to be "cold" solder joints.

Your monitor desperately wants to join its friends around the great CRT in the sky. Time to get an LCD.

Can you fit a monitor fit in your oven...? :D

*SIGH*

It's kind of like freezing HDDs or baking video cards. Yes, it has been known in some instances to work, but it is not the universal fix that people think it is and trying those methods first can sometimes cause more damage than it fixes.
