19" Gaming LCD needed - buy now or wait?

I'm in the market for my first LCD. My 17" Viewsonic CRT has served me well for 6 years now, but it's time for an upgrade and I'd like to jump over to an LCD for pure convenience sake. My use is 60% gaming, 25% web surfing, 15% other apps (excel, word, quicken, etc).

I've already decided that a 19" inch at native resolution is the best size for me. I've considered 20", but think that 1200x1600 is a bit too small (FYI, I'm pretty darn old).

My question is this: is there any LCD's coming in the next month or two that I should wait for (meaning that are much better than what's on the market right now)? My budget is pretty heafty ($800 or so) or at least I think so =).

Lastly, any recommendations from the AT braintrust? My primary concern is that I seem to be very sensitive to the newer display technologies. My CRT's have always needed to be high-end models running at higher refresh rates or I get dizzy and if you want to see me turn green, take me to Best Buy and let me watch a DLP TV for a bit. To me, DLP (even the newer models) is like being on a boat in a violent storm.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well, the much younger members of the family have pulled me into the MMORG world. I started with them on EQ about 6 years ago, and now play EQ2 and WoW (even though they always want ME to be the healer). We've also played some of the other "group" RPG: Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, etc. It's a great way to relate to them and be involved in something that they really enjoy, especially when you're in different places.

This is something I heard from my boss a few days ago. (dont know for sure, but he usually gives me good info).

Dell will have a GREAT OWESOME deals on Monitors, PDAs at the end of April. I am in the market for a 2005 20.1 Inch LCD from Dell, and the reviews are quite owesome on that model. The lowest price they had on the unit was belo 5 bills, but with the info I got from my boss (we deal with Dell all the time), is that end of April will be a huge sale for monitors and PDAs.

ViewSonic, Dell, ProView seem to get very good reviews.

If you're extremely sensitive to ghosting, I would wait a couple of months for the new Viewsonic 4 ms lcds to come out. As for right now, the Hyundai L90D+ can't be beat.

Just started on WoW myself (my first ever MMORPG), and I'm enjoying every minute so far. It's really making me want to try out EQ2, what with it's loyal fanbase and all. Just gotta wait for some kind of free trail, or when I get tired of WoW.

After reading a bit, I've decided to wait a month or so and get the new viewsonic 4ms 19" LCD. The CRT I'm replacing is a viewsonic that was a great monitor so I have a favorable impression of the brand. I hope that there aren't too many compromises to get that speed.

EQ2 does have a free trial. It's one week on the Isle of Refuge.
