Digital Multiscan® Technology: Supports resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 @ 65Hz.

Looks great, but the performance is a little lacking. Anything below 85hz hurts my eyes :(

This monitor is finally a decent deal. It was originally way overpriced, considering that it has a relatively low refresh rate (75 at 1280 and 65 at 1600) for its price range. Also, the OSD is a little annoying cuz you can't manullay make it go away...it just goes off after a certain amount of time...but the display is beautiful. Anyway, after this price cut, it's well worth it for people without super sensitive eyes. Bump! :)

I believe this monitor is based on the Sony E400, not the Sony G400 which is very popular as well as its clones (Dell P991, Compaq P900, etc. )
They just put it in a pretty case to match the Sony VAIO computers

that would explain the lower refresh rates

Does it have a swivel base?

Edit: Nope, it doesn't. Hm... Was looking at the wrong monitor, lol.

Digital Multiscan® Technology: Supports resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 @ 65Hz.

That is pitiful... It looks like this monitor has some performance issues. :(

Ouch... that's unheard of from Sony! Anyways, I'd recommend the P910 in place of this Trinitron, very nice monitor.

BTW, Anybody else notice that there seems to be an excessive multitude of 19" monitor deals in the last 24 hours? Very interesting... too bad I already have one and don't need anymore...

This is a Trinitron monitor. If you have ever owned one you know how much better than a regular monitor they are. The Samsung monitors are not comparable to this one. Specifications must be the main reason why it is discounted but no matter what they are this monitor beats all these low end monitors that are regularly offered as deal with questionable rebates. This is a great deal as far as I am concerned.

This monitor doesn't have a good display. And the base is stationary. yuck.
If you want a good Sony monitor, get the Sony G410R . This is the one I recently got, and it is NICE. It's exactly like the G420S, but without the cheapy built-in speaker and no dual-inputs, which I will never use. This G410R has a great bright display, and I'm currently running it at 1600x1200@85Hz, and text is crisp and sharp. This monitor beats all monitors I've seen in retail stores.

Coyote, I believe you. But I think any Sony monitor beats any monitor you see in retail stores. Except Sony monitors.;)
Or perhaps graphic series Viewsonics.

Why not just spring for the 21' Trinitron. I have 2 Dell P1110's running dually (running only 1600x1200 at 85hz).... and it's a wet dream. I picked em up off a failed dot.com lease at a local store at $600 for the pair. Perhaps everyone should take a look and see if the local shops got anything. They had lots of G500's also...

I'm based outta rochester (in case anyone is in the area). ;)

Sm0kers, you have a point. Dell has monitors that are rebadged Sony monitors. When you see a sign of "Trinitron" on a Dell monitor, that is a Sony monitor, with Sony tube, made in Japan.
There are many on refurbished and used market since many companies and Dell upgrade the hardware and sell them out cheap.

That is the thing to go for, you can get a real Sony monitor really cheap.
