18GB 10k SCSI vs 120GB SE WD...basically what are your experiences with the WD?

I needed a quick answer because I am in the middle of this and since most people hang out here....

Well, my dad's pc had the unfortunately luck of having me put a 9GB 10k SCSI drive as it's OS drive a few years ago, and it has dog slow ever since.

I am very interested in having him use my 18GB SCSI drive instead. I will be left with using my 'storage' drive, a 120GB WD SE, as my main and only drive.

I was interested in feedback as to how my system would perform with this change.

The SCSI drive is a Maxtor 10kII 10,000 rpm ultra160 drive.

Thanks

Why was his 9GB 10k SCSI drive SLOW?

I know that SCSI drives are slow in some desktop functions as they are mainly set for server use's.

Shouldn't notice too much of a speed diff unless you transfer files between two SCSI drives.

For some odd reason it is just slow as hell. I've tinkered it with it but performance is just awful.
