In today's SJ Merc. 1800+ TBred and ECS combo for $89.99. That's a good price. I think this
is a better deal than the 2000(non TBred)/ECS combo for $99.99 that happened last week.

If you mean Portland, Oregon then, yes, it's in today's ad on the front page. :)

Edit -- bare CPU and the combo is priced at $89.99

same combo for same $ at So Cal Frys as well...

I didn't see any info on the revision of the MB, so I guess it depends on what they have a whole bin full of when you get there.

Looks like the ad is showing the standard K7S5a board and not the PRO. I'm probably going to upgrade with the PRO board, so I guess it is good that we don't have a Frys here in Baltimore.

This is not a hot deal unless you plan on throwing away the motherboard. I've gone through two different ones and my friend has also gone through two different ones and none are stable at all at 133mhz bus speed. It's driving me crazy!!!!!!

Anyone know why it wouldn't work?

Well if you're gonna do that, just PM me and I'll take that board off your hands for the cost of shipping plus a couple of bucks! :D

No. But I have the K7S5A Ver.1 and a 1.73Ghz Tbred B AIUHB wk 49 at 166/166 (using a program called Speedfan). Its running 2167 Mhz which is 2700+ speed. The board came from Frys when it was $55.00 over 1 year ago and the chip came from PCNut for $107.00 about 2 weeks ago. These chips are hitting 2.2 - 2.5 GHZ on more expensive/better overclocking boards. My ram is 2 x 256 MB PNY PC2100 Samsung chips. Actually made $13.00 after PNY rebates and PM. I am not dicounting your problems but no everyone has them.

I bought two of this motherboards today and neither of them worked. I guess that for the Athlons XP 800 this is a good deal, but I am dissapointed with the board. I get a blue screen just like if I had bad memory, but that is not the case here.

Use these Fry's combo's to build quite a few machines the last few months and haven't run into any problems that were directly related to the board. Used brand name stuff each time tho. Good deal, though I don't know much about TBreds and their advantages over the non-TBreds.

Good luck with the board.

You get what you pay for..spend a little extra now and save the same amount for what you will spend on Advil.

Not a bad deal. Just thought I'd counter the negatives. I have built 13 pc's with these ECS Mobos and haven't had 1 problem yet.

i dont personally own the board... but i've built 2 computers for relatives that use the ECS board. No problem for general use... and no real issues with them.

This is a great deal...

I went thru five of these k7 ecs boards. I don't know why I was an idiot and kept pounding my head against the wall. I know people get them to work fine, but seriously if it doesn't work the first or second time, just forget about it and take it all back.

I just picked one of these up yesterday (at Fry's in Wilsonville, OR, for the person who was asking about that), and here are the numbers from the CPU:

AXDA1800DUT3C 929142620016

TBRED B...very nice. I might have to go pick up a couple of these. Wonder how it compares to the 1700+ B from Newegg
