1800+ JIXUB???

i just got in on the 1800+/ecs mobo deal at frys. the 1800+ i got was a JIXUB 0329 XPMW. i pop it in and defalut vcore is 1.45V!!! the ecs mobo of course sucks so i cant oc it much (only pc2700 support). anyone have any experiance with this stepping??? thanx

I've heard it's a new core that supposed to do 2.4ghz (and some) very easily. According to OrooOroo in this thread, it definitely goes past 2.4ghz.

go to overclockers.com amd cpu forums for more info.

you can certainly oc on even sh*t ecs m/b. look at mine. 1800 @ 2.4ghz. use socket pin mod to change multiplier and voltage. requires some finesse and trial and error inserting those small wires into the socket. but it saves you from having to go to really high fsb which ecs can't do. get honey or cheepo bios update to access fsb from 133-166. 166 doesn't work on k7s5a though, well not really, but its not worth bothering with. i get up to 150bus ok😛

if thats a frys combo, awesome deal! seems the jixhb finally getting into supply stream. very hard deal to beat.

take a ide or floppy cable. set the site to socket view. cut the wire into ~10mm length. take individual strand from wire. its hairlike compared to the bundle it came from. bend into u. stick into socket holes where indicated by diagram. its thin enough that pins go through easily, yet conductive so that the two pins are now connected. tweezers might be required.

i'll try when i get home, thanx! the problem i'm having with the website is that i cant select 1.45V , should i just set it to 1.475V. also, what should i select for multipler?

if your going to oc, you shoudn't really be at default voltage anyways. as for multiplier.. its really up to you. trial and error😛

1.45V is the default on this chip, the website doesnt have that option.

Does the JIXUB come in the 2100+ flavor as well??? I was wondering cause I get about 1.57v on my new tbred and I though they were like 1.65v at default. Also does a mobo (especially one that does not have vcore modificatio options) have to possibly have a bios update to even set a vcore this low or to recognixe the new lower vcore right anyways???

Also there was a reference in the overclockers link about "funky new packaging"...What was meant by this?? The packaging of the silicon of the chip or the retail box???

This looks interesting.. what other places besides fry's have people been getting these steppings?
