Which lcd screen would you go for and why if you had the choice and had to have one?

They both run 1280x1024 the specs are the same or very similar.

The 18" one would have a better density then the 19" as the resolution would be in a smaller area so would be picture be better quality then the 19" one?

I'm in the market for one. I currently run a 19" iiyama vision master pro450 at the same res. Its too big for my desk in halls......

I've not seen the quality of any 19" yet though, will do asap. To me if I get the 18" LCD I would only see the space saving benefits of the lcd and no increase in picture quality or anything else really, as my current monitor is perfect apart from the dam depth of the beast! If I get the 19" one I would see things a bit bigger but also save space.

The price difference of the models I am looking at aren't significantly different.

If you get a 19" LCD I think you'd want 1600x1200...

1280x1024 (is a gimped resolution!!!! god damn 5:4!!!) is kind of big pixels on a 19".

personally, i would look around for a 19" 1600x1200

well I wear glasses and don't fancy anything bigger on a 19" res. I don't want to have to wear my glasses all the time.

The dot pitch is the same for both monitors.

I'm thinking if I get an 18" I wouldn't get any other improvement apart from space saving. But if I get 19" lcd I'd get a bigger screen area.

The 19" that runs 1600x1200 are an extra £300 ish and puts them in to the £1200-£1300 category. Too much for a Uni student. I have up to £1000 but don't want to spend more then that.

I have an 19 monitor with 18 viewable if not a bit bigger and running 1600x1200 all the time would not be good. It can easily handle the resolution but my eye sight isn't great.
