I am building a new rig and I'm planning on going all SATA (I know about the SATA driver issue - working on it..). Gonna stuff it with HDs and DVD Drives and I was wondering if 18" cables will be enough for me to be able to access all of drive bays.

I'm looking to buy 6 of these.

Any thoughts? I will be trying for reasonable cable management but only to keep the insides tidy.

18 should be enough. I see most SATA ports on mobos near the middle of the board, so 18 will definitely reach. If you use the 2 drive bay, an 8" cable would work for most boards ;)

the bigger problem with the p180 are the power cords to the motherboard. You need a really long main 20-24pin connector, and an really long 8pin motherboard cable to make it reach. I had to buy an extension cable to be my 8 pin to reach and should really get one for my 24pin as well so I can run it around the back.

No problem running SATA to both my HD and optical using 8" SATA right angle cables. Luckily, the Fortron Epsilon 600 PSU I have had extra long cables that I was able to snake around and easily plug in, but the 4 pin aux power cable location on my board (MSI P6N Plat) is in a horrible location and drapes right over the video card.
