If I use the defogger method to make my 1700+ have a default multiplier of 18.5, Will I be able to lower the multiplier down in bios. As right now I can only go to 12.5 multiplier? My thinking is set the multiplier at max available and then adjust it down accordingly in bios.

Thanks

Better get acquainted with AMD's Multiplier Code and possible mobo issues when trying to access Multipliers 13X and up.

Specifically to your comments...18.5X remaps to 24X, and first requirement of accessing 13X and up is to "open" the 5th L3 bridge not paint any closed....besides all L3s on the 1700 are "closed".

Suggest read Multiplier Code and Workaround articles at
http://www.beachlink.com/candjac/index.htm
and also note the special problems 1700s thru 2000 have when you open their 5th L3. It can be done, but degree of complexity depend on the particular mobo...very mobo specific.

It does take some thought but I will figure it out, Hopefully cutting the fifth L3 bridge will do it.
