gets stuck on boot up.
I get the blue "X" (evox bios), then the "microsoft" under it... then it just sits there. Mocking me.

Baby Jesus is crying

even when you have a disc in the drive it does that?

Unknown... I booted it up before I left for work and it sat there. According to my wife, and 2 screaming kids its still doing the same thing after being off for several hours.

I have a spare 80gig WD drive to test if need be. Ill also check for heat and boot up to DVD.

Pray for Mojo.

My friends flashed their xbox bios with some hacks, they bypassed this screen you got for about 12 seconds than the system died! I'm like... dude, what the hell is up, isn't this a new system with outragoues graphics and a killer CPU!?

I thought about it for a second and I'm like.. oh yeah. I remember, the xbox had defects, the PS2's were defective too, and some game cube systems failed to start. New systems die, it's an equation for new systems coming out for the first time as of late. not cool, that's why I didn't wait outside for 55 hours for this system, I'm thinking about the PS3 maybe...

have you checked out xbox-scene.com. Whe I was first getting my xbox modded, I thought I would never get it to work right. I had the same problem as you at one point. I had to totally unscrew everything and reseat the mod-chip. Xbox scene had plenty of help there and I was able to get everything up and running in no time. Best of Luck.

that doesnt do 1% of what a modded xbox w/ XMBC can do. MS screwed the multimedia on that beyond belief

it means that your hd is probably not responding, or your evox dash file itself is not good, or it can not find the evox dash. When you see the "microsoft" part under the evox logo show up, that means it successfully loaded the bios, and it is trying to find the OS. (which should be the evox dash) just my .02

good point(s) it actually boots to XBMC directly so its looking for that.
hopefully DVD boot will work

dvd boot will work only if your ini file tells the xbox to not load XBMC (which is apparently failing to load). Alot of times the ini file is configured to do "autoplay" which is not exactly a true dvd boot.

just try and see if it will work with the dvd. If that doesn't work, it doesn't neccessarily mean that your xbox is broken.
