I played 1701. Be aware that the screenshots look better than game play. Sure you can view your town with that fancy camera that looks so sweet in promos. The game is not playable that way though.
The game play becomes tedious once your town requires ship routes. It was fun for a few hours but bogs down quickly with micro-management and is repetitive.
It's pretty fun. You can set up automated trade routes for the ships. It's basically a Civ game but in colonial America. Multiplayer is shit though, attacking an AI player sends the game totally 100% out of sync for all players.
