Hi ,

Brand New unused AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 266FSB processor. PArt Number AXDA1700DUT3C, JIUHB 0311XPMW. Socket A/462.

I am going to buy a new chip a 1700+ and ive been hearing that the date and model number can determine how we'll it overclocks so i thought this would be the best place to get an opinon before i buy , theres the chips details will it hit anything near 2400mhz with epox 8RDA+ AND 2 X Corsair 256mb xms 3200.

Those CPU's should get to around 2.0-2.2ghz possibly near 2.4ghz(typically not), it just may need a little more voltage than you want to give to do so. The DUT3C coded chips have a default voltage of 1.6v. The DLT3C ones have a default voltage of only 1.5v, so they require a little less voltage at OCed speeds also. This makes less heat and extends the life of the CPU.

If you want a sure thing, excaliberpc.com will guarantee a DLT3C 0310 chip. It's not uncommon for them to do 2400+mhz! The downside is they sell them for around $70, and you can nearly buy a Barton for that.

You might post that model in the motherboard forum or as a new thread in this forum to get some answers.
