I'm trying to find my max OC. Currently running my 1700+ @ 2380MHz (14x170). WHen I start Prime95 torture test I get "Error: Illegal Sumout" message over a over. Prime said to read the readme.txt file for details and it said that this error is because of a software error. After I get this error I click "stop" to stop the testing but the error messages keep coming. If I try to close prime, nothing happens. Everything else in windows works fine even though prime seems to be locked in an endless loop. Does this mean I've hit a wall in my oc'ing?

Yeah it's weird because the readme.txt file says this is most likely a software error, however if I set the speed lower (to 2300 for example), Prime runs fine. I think I'll raise the vcore and see what happens

I've gotten that error before, just means your overclocking too much and you have reached your limit or you need to up the voltage

If you think it is software then load either a newer or older version and try it again...I think it is related to ocing of the system....

What are your settings for that OC besides bus and multiplier?(voltages, etc) I want to get close to that :D What cooling solution are you using? What ram?

I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I got the best stuff I could for a good price
All voltages are default except vcore which is 1.75v.

Cool, thanks for the tip. I am currently have problems with a simple overclock of 166 x 10 and thought maybe voltages would help, not sure. My shutdown and startup have been real flaky.

Hey, make sure you set your memory timings manually in the bios that you know will work with your memory.

bump up your voltage, i wouldnt go pass 1.8v tho.

if you still get errors then you probably hit the limit of your cpu.
i know your ram is good to go for a lot more.
