Interesting. But why do they call it "HDMI 4K @ 60Hz", and not refer to HDMI 2.0 anywhere in the product literature? Seems a bit strange to me. AFAIK, no Skylake platform has HDMI 2.0. So I guess my question is, is this sort sort of HDMI 1.4a/b specification optional extension, and will you get HDMI 4K @ 60Hz on a display that supports HDMI 2.0? (Will it handshake?)

AFAIK, Gigabyte is the only brand of motherboard that is incorporating Intel's Alpine Ridge chip within any of the currently available Z170, H150, or B150 motherboards.

What brand & model of TV with an HDMI 2.0 port are you talking about?

Toshiba 65L9400U.

So then we might presume that Asrock is implementing a DP->HDMI 2.0 converter on board?

Is an HDMI 2.0 port for the Intel video output possible without necessarily having the Intel Alpine Ridge controller chip present?
It seems likely that there would also be 3rd-party chip solutions (alternatives to Alpine Ridge) for including an HDMI 2.0 port on a Skylake chipset motherboard.
Why aren't all Skylake boards equipped with HDMI 2.0 ports, instead of HDMI 1.4?
Intel's Alpine Ridge controller chip also adds Thunderbolt and USB 3.1, which not all users would have a real need of.

Well it looks like Alpine Ridge brings all that functionality possibly, but implementation of Alpine Ridge is hinted at by USB 3.1 + HDMI 2.0, which it appears this board has. I'm keeping my eye on reviews to see if someone comments on its HDMI functionality before it comes time for me to buy (soon).

If the monitor has a Display Port, this board supports "4096x2304@60 Hz" from the Intel video output:

If the monitor only has HDMI ports, this adapter could work:

What monitor has an HDMI 2.0 port?
The only video cards (after a Newegg product search) that include HDMI 2.0 ports seem to be: two GTX 980 Ti cards.

I'm pretty sure the ASUS STRIX GTX 970 does have HDMI 2.0 ports, and probably other manufacturers.

EDIT: Yes it does, so is the GTX 960 and GTX 980.
