17" to 21" CRT

Well, I am thinking of upgrading my monitor from a 17" Envision to a 21" P1130. My question is will I notice any difference between the two monitors at the same resolution?

Currently, I use windows at 1024x768 on my 17".
Would I notice any difference between the monitors at 1024x768? Like looking worse.
Would I need to up the resolution to get the same effect as 1024x768 on my 17" CRT? (icons looking the same size, etc.)

Thanks in Advance!!

Yes, basically you're applying the same image to a larger area, you'll start to see aliasing (jagged edges), and the icons will be super-big.

well, if you do get a 21" you should just set it on 1600x1200 for desktop stuff, and it will look fine at 1024x768 in games, if your video card cant handle the higher res. i dont see any reason why not to use 16x12, a bigger screen should fit more stuff, not stretch out the same ammount of stuff you had before.

I just upgraded from a 17" Viewsonic E771 @ 1280x1024 to a new Trinitron E500 (same panel in the Dell) and I run it at 2048x1536 desktop. (Same res in WoW. 🙂 ) It's probably the best thing I've ever done.

1024x768 desktop on this monitor would look sickening.

You'd be insane to not use 1600x1200 for your desktop, for gaming use whatever your video card can keep up with.
