17" or 19" viewsonic?

Anyone think its a good idea to go for the VP191b over the VP171b . Using it primarily for games, dvd...wondered if this 19"is any good for that, and the bigger screen is worth going for even if there is a 9ms less response time.

Gary Gary Gary...has the VP171 come out yet? Go to a shop and look at any 25ms (not that every 25ms produce the same levels of ghosting and ghosting is a very subjective thing) and if you don't see ghosting, then go ahead and try the VP191. Don't you have any shops over there 😉

hehe, i cant make up my mind. its this problem i have. yeah i found a site with the vp171b, but then i saw the vp191 and i thought about it....bigger screen would be nicer but wondered if the ghosting would put me off. And no there are no shops here which have LCD's to look at, none im not kidding. if only i could see these 2 in action damnit. anyone with the vp191 here?

Yeah ive seen that monitor, nice specs but the viewsonic has more features and looks better. there arent any shops here in london uk that have showrooms for lcd's 🙁

I was in a shop today and looked at some different lcds off course.

First up was an Acer AL922 (I think), the info/price thing said 25ms. I could see some ghosting, not much, but enough for me not wanting to buy it. Which I wasn't planning on anyhow.

Second was an Acer AL712, sporting a 20ms. Here I could see less ghosting, really not very much, but the colors didn't seem right.

Third screen was the Samsung 172S (the one without dvi), 25ms, this actually seemed pretty good. I could not really see any ghosting and the colors seemed good, better than the previous ones.

Fourth screen was a Sony 17" didn't catch the name, but think it was the X72. This reminded me of the AL922, slight ghosting.

Anyway thats my report. What to note here, is that the different 25ms exhibited different levels of ghosing. To me anyway, my brother couldn't see any ghosting on any of them. And this proves, tada, that ghosting is a very subjective thing. So you really ought to find a shop somewhere, what kind of country are you living in. What about those Comets.

But to play it safe, you could go with a 16ms screen, I doubt you would see any ghosting and if you did, you have sensitive eyes. Besides 17" seems fine to me, 19" would be nice though, but only if you sit bit longer away from it.

i live in london, england and comet does have lcds but none that are any good...makes like Hp pavilions, and iiyama, sony, packard bell e.t.c family brands. Im now thinking of gettin the VP191B over the 17 incher, Im currently using a hp pavilion f50s 15 inch LOL!!!. and i cant notice any ghosting in any game what does that mean? considering this is a poor monitor.

I have just checked the german prices at geizhals.at. And the price of the Viewsonic VP171 has dropped to ?556, only ?100 more than the NEC. So I think I'll get this one, once my paycheck arrives.

If you like Ghosting get it. I bought the Hitachi 17" 1755SXWB just for that very reason. Paid $404.00 for it with free shipping from Monitors Direct. No Ghosting whatsoever and no dead pixels. It is only an inch shorter than my old Hitachi 19", so I'm pretty happy with it awesome vibrant colors to boot.

What i dont understand is the 1800fp doesnt have any ghosting yet the response time is 30ms...whats going on? Its colour ratio is also only 350:1...yet everyone says the colours are vibrant and lovely???? eh? Take a look at this monitor from viewsonic, its the same monitor Link

Is there something special about the 1800fp, the way it was manufactured e.t.c?
