17 or 19" LCD with 1280x960 res

I've been out of the loop for awhile. The last time I tried out some LCDs they were only available at 1280x1024 for the 17" and 19" models.

Has any company released a 17 or 19" model with 1280x960 native and good specs (8 or 12ms refresh) ?

I'd like to grab a third display but this is currently holding me back.

I don't think there any. Any reason you need this? Oh are you trying to match resolutions with a CRT for a three monitor setup??

I just prefer a 4:3 res.

I've tried time and time again to use 1280x1024 but it just feels too weird.

1. Get 12x10 LCD
2. Chop off the excess pixels
3. ???
4. Profit

Sorry for using that old relic--I haven't seen any either.

1280x1024 feels weird? I've always used 12x10 on this machine, and my parents' and siblings' 1024x768 display (granted, I am talking about CRTs here; my 19" vs. their 17") doesn't feel weird at all when I go to do something on it; just a tad small, of course.

Just a preference. I'm picky 😛

I could never understand why display manufacturers did that (lower models like 15" are 4:3, 17 and 19 are 5:4 and then higher are 4:3 again... weird).

My best guess is that it let them use the same equipment to make 15" XGA and 19" SXGA panels (the math is very close, but not exact wrt pixel size).

That probably isn't it though.
