17" LCD screen?

I'm sort of on a budget, but I just want a 17" LCD with great text quality, low eye-strain, and otherwise good image quality. I don't care much at all for extra features or TV functionality or height-adjustability etc, so which 17" is the best for me?

Also, I've heard rave reviews about Samsung's 172x; is it worth the huge price premium? How does it compare to the 174?

do you care about dvi connections? in your price range its most likely going to be analog. i believe the 172x has a dvi connection where as the 174 doesnt, im not 100% sure.

I've read a bit about DVI, and I would say it's worth ~$30 to me..

In the higher end LCD's you'll need DVI otherwise it'll look really crappy in Analog mode, but you're not looking high end soooo...
