17 Inch LCD (SAMSUNG 172T) + Diablo 2 = no work?

The resolution of diablo until you load the game is 640x480 or wahtever, and my monitor doesnt support that mode...once the game boots its minimized and It takes me a million tries to get it to open up. Is there a way to make this game work well? I know I havent supplied that much info But i dont know what to say!

I know the expantion pack allows 800x600. I don't know if that will help you though

You could try playing in a window. Edit the shortcut to "diablo2.exe -w".

i cant get that to work...the run in window mode. says its invalid when i change the thing on the dekstop.

Make sure you put the switch outside of the quotes. For example:

"D:\Games\Diablo II\diablo2.exe" -w

combine the two solutions.
launch it in window mode, change the resolution to 800x600. exit, then take off the window parameter, then launch again.

this should work if your monitor supports 800x600

yeah i tried this, but it still doesnt work. It only gots to 800x600 when you boot into the game. In the menu's and in bnet i believe the res is still 640x480...

Ok, I think you misunderstood, or else I missunderstood your reply rnp614.

I know for a fact that, if you load the game in window mode, then start playing, and select video options and change the resolution to 800 X 600, then quit and reload the game in non-window mode...it will work.

Also, I find it interesting that 640 x 480 is not supported for your monitor. ....

Here's the thing. When I do it, the game just automatically minimizes. Then i have to alt-tab and click a bunch of times on nothing for the window to actualy maximize or it'll just keep minimizing itself...I have no idea what to do about this. Its weird behavior!

Ah, yeah I would agree, although I have had the same issue with another game. Now that I have thought about this.

You have confirmed that the correct driver is installed for you LCD Monitor?

All drivers are correct. Do you all think its because of digital in? Should analog work? I dont think thats it...stupid DIABLO!

Why would it minimize if your monitor doesn't support? The display just gets screwed up on my laptop if I do something weird with the resolution.

Works ok on my Samsung 191T LCD in analog mode,I thought your monitor supports 640 mode?

I`m waiting for my 9700 and DVI cable so no DVI mode at the moment .

That is weird the monitor doesn't even run at 640x480. My CTX will run at 640x480 but looks like ass. I had the same type problem when I had TVTool installed. When I removed TVTool my game worked. Of course it wasn't diablo 2.

When TVTool was installed, everytime I ran this certain game, my monitor would state I was running at an unsupported resolution.
