17 days, 19 hours, 15 minutes, 35 seconds and counting

That is how long 99% of the professors at my college (Northeastern Illinois) have been on strike. They basically want to work less hours for more money, which probably means that the school administration is going to have to raise tuitions costs (which are now about $2000-$2500 per semester).

EDIT: The strike has been settled, and as expected, we (the students) are getting screwed. They're extending the semester by a mere three days, even though the strike lasted 20 days. I predict that a heck of a lot of people are going to fail their classes this semester.

.... that's a pretty cheap education. NYS raised SUNY's whopping <$2k by a small percentage and students/NYPIRG went crazy.... people need to realize that without tuition hikes, THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECEIVE THE EDUCATION THEY WANT. Professors need to make money too.

More power to the professors says I.

No. The semester will be extended into next year. And then the start of the spring semester will be delayed.

I'm not entirely against the strike. But both sides are acting like children when it comes to negotiating. For the first two weeks they would hardly talk to each other.
