My Dell D1025TM died friday. I went to frys saturday and bought a refurbished ViewSonic A90f+ for $180. That was NOT fun getting up the stairs, and I had to move my desk forward from the wall because it is so big. The image looks blurry, and in the upper left the blue looks like it is not aligned like the rest of the monitor. Brightness is great...

Overall I don't really like the monitor. I want to get a 17" Trinitron or something high quality for the same price or less. What would you recommend?

Diamondtron

I have a 17" trinitron, a 19" SHarp LCD, a 21" Viewsonic CRT, a 17" Gateway (The nice one not sure who makes it), and a 19" Mitsu (NEC is teh same now) Diamondtron monitor. That diamondtron monitor makes all teh others look like junk. They are awesome monitors.

Newegg has 19" Diamnodtron also. Or you might want to check those refurbished 19" Sony FD Trinitron on other sites for $165 shipped.

19" is a little big, doesn't fit on my desk. Thus the 17" suggestion in the title.

So do most monitors not do 1600x1200 and high refresh rates? Seems like all the $150-250 ones can't do it. Yet, the D1025TM I had that just blew up could do 1024x768 at 100Hz, or 1600x1200. Is this rare? I only paid $110 for that monitor. The picture quality was good too. WHAT GIVES?

Blue?

Adjust the purity on the monitor. You'll also need to adjust the sharpness. My P95f kind of looked like that when I got it. Now it's crystal clear and the colors look fine.

Will try that when I get home. What about the purity of the white? Like if I have a blue background, drag a white box around and stare at the white box, it looks like I can see a texture. I fiddled with all the settings I thought and don't remember anything helping with the blue.

Hmm, that's weird.

If you want, I can give you all of the settings I have. You can try them and see if they work on your monitor.
