Probably around the middle of the month. Some may move all or some of their hardware to the PG challenge which runs 10 days starting the 7th.
It's probably a good idea to hold back some of your hardware and tweaks until the teams are finalized. It's up to you.
There are no rules. You can buy or rent new hardware at any time. Even trash-talk is encouraged. The idea is to have a bit of fun and give our year-long folders support.
This is the one I like.....Almost 9 million ppd. Now if I could get all the 2060s and the 1080ti and the 1070ti converted....Well I have moved some recent puters to the "Wif's" work space and her space is still not warm enough and now "I"! am not warm enough!
So I guess I need to add more gpu and cpu overall and start overclocking!!!! And it is getting cooler here! It's GREAT that finely refined silicon per O.Z. is going for mucho dinero! NOT!
Edit: This race is over. I found a "video display" controller / GT 710! that has likely been idle it's entire life. Supposedly can deliver upwards of 20 THOUSAND some FAH points. Sorry everyone
Well for some reason, /etc/sudoers is writable by everyone on the planet so the system is refusing to let you run sudo. I'm sure there's a fix but it's probably safer to reinstall the OS.well, yes, clean install years ago.
Considering I have had like problems on every box, and already reinstalled on abvout 5 boxes, I see the rest of the month will be reinstalls. But the new drivers have taken my PPD from 38m to 43m, so 5 m on 8 cards. Not bad.7 cards/boxes to go. But the 2060 goes from 1m to 2m. I have 3 of those, maybe 4 if you count the box I have off to save electric bill....Well for some reason, /etc/sudoers is writable by everyone on the planet so the system is refusing to let you run sudo. I've never seen or heard of that before. If it was my machine I would be very concerned.Well for some reason, /etc/sudoers is writable by everyone on the planet so the system is refusing to let you run sudo. I'm sure there's a fix but it's probably safer to reinstall the OS.
With all the hacks I have done over the years like "chmod 777 *" it certainly could be me. I just have to reinstall the OS (19.2) and the 495 drivers on many machines.I've never seen or heard of that before. If it was my machine I would be very concerned.
Cheers for the stats biodoc
Now this year I actually want a new GPU, or even a newer GPU, but I'm not paying the crazy prices they are going for atm! Unless I can sell my RX 580 for good money!? And how about a HD 4830??
I have 2 9800 gtx cards laying around. They look like they are 2/3rd's or better than the speed of a 970. But that must be wrong, as they are selling for $15 to $30 on ebayThis is a useless post, except for maybe a laugh. Came across the following while looking for a cheap GPU to hold over for a new box until prices come down...
Interesting new GPU technology filling in the void. I wonder how the next gen will compare to this in melon equivalents and the definition of small chassis may be changing? Sorry for the long link to the funny below...

I decided to risk one more WU and...I caught COVID.Thanks for the stats, @biodoc!
Well, it's been fun, but my computer turns into apumpkinPrimeGrid cruncher at midnight (local time.) I'll be back in 10 days or so.
I upgraded SOME of the drivers to 460 or 495 (linux). I got some ppd.WTH? Some mouth breather with call sign TeasyTony jumps up on the scoreboard? I could understand TwinTurbo, but?
Does this team have standards?
Edit: I'm turning off phone F@H overtake notifications... Also looks like Markfw found some drivers or power for cards...
Same here Bought the GM200 Titan (Maxwell), and then of course skipped Pascal. Was disappointed in Turing, and skipped that as well. And now the Ampere disaster... Never have I been dragging behind that many generations But there's still no light at the end of tunnel... And I also don't want a 500W+ space heater in my rig...Now this year I actually want a new GPU, or even a newer GPU, but I'm not paying the crazy prices they are going for atm! Is this on nVidia GPUs? If so, what driver version are you on? Because this here...I have to check my settings. Suddenly, november 18, my production dropped by approx. 400K - all the same computers and GPUs are upp and running. Any idea why the drop occured?
Thanks for the info. Updated drivers to the latest version. Now lets see if production goes back to "normal" ...Is this on nVidia GPUs? If so, what driver version are you on? Because this here...
Info - New version of Fahcore_22 with updated driver & CUDA requirements
Just accidentally stumbled over CUDA errors in my FAH logs (was looking into them because my production was a little on the low side, WU's taking too long etc.). There seems to be a new version of Fahcore_22 which is based on CUDA 11.x. This means, that the nVidia drivers & CUDA available in...forums.anandtech.com
...might be the cause.
I gained 25 to 50% per card ! 2060 went from 1m ppd to 2m. 2080ti went from 5m to 6m. The newer (or bigger) the card, the less % improvement, but still....Thanks for the info. Updated drivers to the latest version. Now lets see if production goes back to "normal" ...
