Now that I figured out the main difference between the BenQ 767 and the MAG MS776, the question is, is it better to go with the BenQ? or the MAG? Both have the same warranty, and are about the same price, only thing is the BenQ is 16 million colours and the MAG is 262 thousand colours (although both are supposedly off athe AU Optronics LCD, i dun understand how BenQ has 16 million colours cuz I checked all the 16ms AU Optronic LCD specs and they're all 262k colours). Anyways, anybody have a 262k LCD? or a 16 million? See any difference? Thx!

While LCDs may suck for gaming and watching movies and just about everything else compared to CRTs, they DO save space. And not everyone has a lot of space. So those people must accept a degradation in quality for the space saving design.

Sorry OP, I dont know the answer to your question.

Even for Samsung, you can see some models are 16.7M, some are 16.2M.

I'm not a specialist, but I would say there is practically no difference between 16.7 and 16.2 to the human eye.

LCD's quality is very nice, better than many CRTs. My Hyunday Q17 has greater IQ than my replaced 17inch CRT Highscreen. But the best about LCDs is space and health saving ;)

Good point, health saving... LCDs are better for your eyes compared to CRTs. (Not that CRTs at 85hz are really all that bad for your eyes, but any bit helps when it comes to your health).... Also, LCD monitors dont use a huge amount of electricity, and dont get as warm. Just some other things to consider.

The "16.2 million" colors monitors are the same as the "262,000" color ones -- they both interpolate by switching back and forth between different colors every other frame when you're displaying a color it can't natively draw.

In practice, it's unlikely to make much of a difference unless you're doing something very dependent on precise coloring (like photoshop work, web design, that sort of thing). Image quality may be slightly lower for games, but I would take slight color degradation over 25+ms ghosting any day. :)

There no difference between 1M and 100M its just for the marketing and might be cos there is no step between 262k and 16.2?

I didn't need to save space, but LCDs have a cool look to them, sitting on your desk. They're just slick.

But the IQ makes flowers look like kittens! (not really)

I don't understand your point but it does raise the question: flowers vs. kittens?

Which further raises the question: preference or in a fight to the death?

I use 2 BenQ 767's for work and they are definately good for the price. Brightness is really good and text clarity is very good.

BenQ seems very cheap and that concerns me. Are they any good? I dont have time to check but is that the 16ms model? If so, how about you test drive it and give us a review?

The price and rated spec's of BenQ LCD's seems to be very very good and a worthy purchase. However as everyone knows, not every manufacturer tells us as it is. Performance may not be sa good as stated.
