I am trying to use my 16gig Transcend SDHC card (formatted for a casio S10 camera) as temporary flash drive. I am trying to copy a 4.5Gig file onto it but it says it full even those the SDHC card is totally empty.

Is there a max file size that I can transfer over at once?

Nope, you should be able to put a file as large as the capacity of the card on it...

However, it's going to be very very slow copying 4.5 Gigs onto a slow SDHC card

Hmmm, well it doesn't. I have now done some googling on the subject. It might be a limitation on how the Casio formats the SD card. It can only have movies on that are no bigger then 4gig. Maybe if I reformat into a non casio camera card I would be able to do it.

A lot of the flash product are formatted with the FAT32 file system, and there is a max file size of 2GB in FAT32. You might want to try to format it to NTFS, but in the case, your camera might not recognize your card anymore.

What brand is it? That could have some bearing too.

I had a 4GB card by Kingston go bad on me and every time I formatted it, I would lose 1GB in capacity. It eventually failed.

still less than 4.5GB, but thanks for setting the record straight on FAT's maximum file size.
