16gb SDHC, an old card reader, and xp x64

I have an older model lian li card reader (CR-31A I believe) which doesn't support SDHC. I found a hotfix that MS released which added the SDHC support for xp32, but I can't find anything for xp64.

It seems to be a pretty straight forward hotfix, and plenty of people are successfully using SDHC cards on readers that "don't support" the format (xp32). I'm assuming the hotfix was originally released to enable support for SDHC period, but also ended up allowing the non-SDHC readers to work as well. XP64 supposedly doesn't need the hotfix because it already does support sdhc, but no hotfix means no using old card readers. Am I right in this? Does anyone have any more info or know of some type of work around that might do the trick?

I also have been experiencing troubles with SDHC so I'll bump this.

I recently bought an A-Data 4GB SDHC Class 6 card to use for my Camera, and while on my old 256MB SD card I could both copy photo's back and forth between computer and memory card, I cannot copy photo's from my computer onto the SDHC card through my Camera's USB cable.

I'm guessing the hotfix from Microsoft doesn't work on the USB cable. Should I format the card? Or is an SDHC card reader my only option?
