16GB DDR3 is planned - please help me pick :)

Hi all,

I have the Asus p8p67 deluxe, a 2600k, and a Mugen 3 cooler. Can anyone recommend a set of sticks that totals 16GB?

Is it better to go with 4x4GB or 2x8GB?

I would like to run them at 1866MHz, so DDR3-2000 is a good bet. I'll take 1600MHz if I have to.

I am currently running stable at 4.5GHz, if it matters. (45x100)

There is no point in wasting money on faster memory because the only thing it really helps is gaming on Llano based systems. At $80 for 16gb I'm tempted to buy some for a future build even though I don't need it right now 😛.

Cost-wise 4x4 can't be beat. I'm happy with my Corsair Vengeance. But other vendors make good stuff too. Get CAS8. Not sure if any 8GB sticks out there support that. Checked Newegg and there's ***no*** state of the art 8 GB sticks. Just get a consensus-agreed-good set of 4x4s. Mark pointed to a good set, but they're out of stock (naturally)!

Honestly the most you should pay for is 1600mhz CAS9, but for the vast majority of users 1333MHz CAS9 is it. I'd just grab http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231312 or two of http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231424

AS the Anand link you posted shows, there is little overall performance difference between 1333 and 2133 ..

Xtra money is better spent getting the color and design that makes you happy ..
