16GB - 2x8 or 4x4 ?

Is there any performance benefit to a 2x8GB configuration over a 4x4GB? 16GB would be the max so future capacity upgrades wouldn't be an isssue.

Thanks,
BGC

Doesn't fewer modules also make it easier to overclock? Or get higher overclocks? I have heard this but not fully sure. As far as just stock running goes either should be fine.

Stock - doesn't matter. Depending on how high the OC you're after, 2 DIMMs are better than 4, assuming dual-channel.

For lga 2011, 4x4 is better because you can take advantage of quad channel mode. For everything else such as ivy, sandy, and amd chips, 2x8 is better for the reasons mentioned above.
