I upgrade Video Cards Recently to a Gigabyte HD 5870 so that I could get 3 screens. I now have 3 22" monitors connected, but the one off the DisplayPort (using DisplayPort to VGA adapter from Accell rated to 1920x1200) I can not get to work at 1680x1050. This is a Viewsonic NX2232w, native resolution is 1680x1050, but it is not an option in Windows or CCC. Tried getting driver from Viewsonic, would not install, even changed to the VG2230wm (the other two monitors that have same native resolution and size) and it installed but would still not run 1680x1050. Updated to latest CCC (10.11) and no change either. Any thoughts on how to get this going? Thought it was a Monitor Driver issues, but not sure if it is that or the Video Driver, any help would be great, drives me nuts to have this monitor different resolution than others!

Thanks!

Those adapters are still flaky. If it's an active adapter and not working you should try exchanging it.

Sorry for the delay, autonotice not working!

I have 2 Viewsonic VG2232 monitors and a Viewsonic NX2232w monitor. the VG2232 are on the DVI links, the NX2232w is on VGA through the DisplayPort adapter.

The display works fine, it is just the wrong resolution.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

The single link active DP adapter is not flaky and works fine without flickering at 1920x1200. It was announced last year and can be easily got for $30

Perhaps but I've still seen people posting with the new single link adapters with issues that were gone after exchanging, so I don't think they're foolproof yet :(

But this is the VGA adapter he's using not the DVI one. Unless you meant he should buy the DVI one instead.

VGA gets around the issues that require the active DP adapter, I don't think the adapter has anything to do with this, the image is fine, just the wrong resolution.

Yes but not being able to select proper resolution is one of the issues people often post about that always ends up being fixed by exchanging the adapter.

You can also try the firmware update but I don't think it applies for the DP->VGA adapter:

Yep, no EDID information, is transmitted. However there should be some driver somewhere that allows me to do the correct resolution. All the EDID does is provide information on acceptable resolutions, and monitor model, vendor, etc... There should be a way to select another resolution, the data can be transmitted (1920 x 1080 max through adapter), just need a way to tell the 5870 to send it at the 1680 x 1050. I tired installing a different driver with that resolution, but did not give me that resolution as an option. Also uninstalled on the next reboot.
