The two best 20" LCDs currently IMO is the ViewSonic VX2025 and the NEC 20WMGX2. The NEC is a little better in performance but more money. The ViewSonic is a great alternative to the NEC if you want something a bit cheaper. These are the two best choices I think in the 20" LCD category.

I have the viewSonic VX2025 and I love it. No problems with it at all. No dead pixels that I can see and no backlight bleeding. I havent watched DvD movies on it yet but I do game on it and no problems there at all.

One thing about the Viewsonic though is that it lacks any innate aspect-ratio scaling capabilities and AFAIK it doesn't work when forced through the drivers either.

I've got the Benq FP202w from Newegg. I like it a lot, although I don't really have much to compare it to. :p

It doesn't have any dead pixels, movies look great although you can see some of the backlight in the black bands in widescreen movies, and it looks crisp and clean when using the VGA (my laptop doesn't have a DVI output, although the monitor has one as an input).

Let me know what you want to know, but I recommend it; I got it for $300 even.

the NEC is also 2x the price.. way out of my budget lol, i'd love to have one tho.
dunno, never really looked itno the LG but it doesn't supply a dvi cable = +25 onto price tag, and how does LG's rep compare to viewsonic's

I got the viewsonic vx2025 and I'm very happy with it. I wouldn't get the Dell. It's an older panel and there are screens out now that are better and cheaper.

I am about to get the Viewsonic. Seems like a great monitor from what I have seen.

I also know of a way to get one for $267 after rebate, $317 before rebate if your interested.

At that res you won't need a real high end card. Try a 7900GT or X1900XT.

7900GT 239.99 AR

 WOW that was a stupid post....i guess you didnt even bother to read the OP's sig, or even the thread for that matter.

Your budget isn't high but you have a rig with high-end specs? Lian-li case? X2 4800+? X1900XT?

AND YOU SKIMP ON THE MONITOR?

It makes NO sense. Get a 24" LCD. Or at least the NEC 20". You spend money on a case that gives you negligeable differences compared to something much cheaper like an Antec, but claim lack of money for a display? Guess what you're staring at all day? Sure as hell not the airflow of your case.

Went to officemax today. Looked at it. Looked at the price. Wasnt impressed enough to spend $300+ for it.

Will probably just stick with this Dell I have now. Its really not that bad, I guess.

Honestly, I dont think its worth the price. At least not for me.

He has a point, a nice rig should be complimented with a nice monitor and the NEC would be the icing on the cake for you.

Then again the Viewsonic is by no means "cheap crap" and you will be more than happy with it if you do decide to buy it.
