Hello all,

My 2005FPW has just arrived. I plugged it in and went to change the resolution from whatever it was to the recommended 1680 X 1050.

Lo and behold, it is not available. No problem say I, so I uninstall the Catalyst drivers I have and install the ones provided by Dell on the monitor CD. Nothing different.

The only one widescreen available to me is 1280 X768 and the text is way too big.

I am running Windows 2000 SP4 and I am using the SVGA plug through a KVM.

Suggestions.

You can force it to whatever you want through the Catalyst drivers. Just uncheck "use DDC information", and then select the desired resolution from the list (it's on one of the option panels under Control Panels/Display/Settings/"Advanced...").

It's probably the KVM that's screwing it up. If you plug directly into the monitor, does it detect the right resolutions?

does the 9800pro not have dvi?

i use dvi with my 9800pro & 2005fp and dont have any problems. try using the dvi. you can keep your other computer plugged into the vga port and use the button on the monitor.

Don't use the KVM for the flat panel.... I use a KVM for my mac and my PC, but I only use the switch for the keyboard/mouse/ound. The 2005FPW has two inputs, so hook up your primiary computer via the DVI (since it is better quality), and the secondary computer through the VGA input. Then, just use the 2005FPW itself to swtich between computers for the monitor. You shouldn't have any problems with a 9800 Pro either. I was running my test box with a Radeon 7200 in it yesterday on the 2005FPW, and it worked just fine at 1680x1050.

Thanks a lot for the responses. I have it running at the 1680 X 1050 resolution now.

I bypassed the KVm and used dvi directly.

Do they sell a KVM with no video? I'm doing like the rest of you and using the 2005fpw to switch the video. Seems a shame to buy a KVM and use only part of it.
