ive had this sucker for a while and its always had this problem but now its starting to piss me off. there is a 10 to 20C dif between cores. i have reseated the hsf many times, its making good contact it has to be a problem under the ihs. removal is not an option because im running a clip on arctic freezer 64 pro. im having problems now because while one core is only 45c the other one passes 60c and causes crashes. what about removing the ihs and replacing it with new thermal compound?

Are you overclocking it? What voltage you using etc? More info would be useful.

I know from my 3800+ the cores were never at similar temps there was usually a 8C diff. So it could be a stability issue and not a heat issue.

Before removal, that noobshield made my 165 have a 14 degree spread. Now they bounce around each other equally (lapped Tuniq Tower). Next best thing would be reapplication after lapping to 600 grit, but you would have to epoxy the noobshield back on because grease alone won't keep it stable. You could weaken the bond by adding Ceramique or another TIM to the epoxy mixture.

first its a CCBBE 0616 XPMW

i maxed it out at 2.8ghz with the 2ed core disabled (luckily the hot core is 1 not 0 so i can disable it in the bios) with maybe 1.375vcor, i might have bumped it to 1.4 but i dont remember. so voltage isnt an issue. right now i have it running at 2.2ghz with a 1.3vcore. temps right now are core 0 38C core 1 52C under load. i would like to run it at 2.7ghz with both core enabled so i want to get the temp problem fixed.

even at stock speed and vcore i still get ~20C spread.

i would just tack each side with a dab so it would be easy to remover if i had to. thanks for the tip.
