Office Depot has the Maxtor 160GB SATAII/300 drive for $34.99 after a $50 MIR. 3/22-3/24 SKU 266642.

I don't find the item online, but the circular with it advertised is available for viewing at the Office Depot site. Drive is on page 2 of 2.

Rebate form here.

Hold your horses, this is NOT a SATA drive. I checked the product number on Maxtor Web Site and it's listed as an "ATA 133" drive. A Google check showed the same thing.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmm, this is confusing. The item detail from the online circular says SATA, but it also says SKU 266642, and the web site says that's an L01V160, which is PATA. Could Office Depot have made a mistake ??!?

Either way, good deal if you can use a Staples $15 off 75 coupon.

Stopped by a store, it is a PATA. They also took the $3 for empty ink cart. not a bad deal for a 3yr warranty drive

Drive itself is labeled Seagate 7200.9

Cant' they get in trouble for false advertising? I wonder how many people bought this online thinking it was SATAII. Thanks Jerry for catching this.

You're welcome. I almost pulled the trigger, had it in my cart, printed the rebate and then I saw the model number and decided to do a little research.

It's not false advertising, just a simple mistake. I don't know how they'll handle the situation. Perhaps a screen shot would convince them to substitute a SATA drive but then they'd have to deal with the rebate situation as well.

Be patient, another deal will come along.;)

Cheers,
Jerry
