i just recently acquired the new maxtor hd and its 160GB, and i'll be getting an Abit NF7-S motherboard soon. will i need an adapter card for the HD to work?
if i do, how much do these run normally, and how much could i get them for like with a rebate or something?

No, it'll be fine. The nForce2 chipset has an ATA-133 controller on board, so you're ready to rock and roll.

Plus, ATA133 is not the essential factor with drives over 137GB. 48-bit Logical Block Addressing (LBA) is the issue. Most (all) ATA100 controllers and motherboards (may need a BIOS update) support 48-bit LBA. The bottom line, is just about any motherboard purchases that is fairly recent will support your large hard drives.

But ATA-133 guarantees 48 bit LBA, so if you see ATA-133 then you know it'll take a drive over 137GB. That's all I was pointing out without explaining myself for simplicity's sake.
