160GB Hard Drive not Reading

THis might seem like a stupid question to ask to all u guys but im not sure why my 160gb hard drive does not show up on my computer at all.

it is hooked up thorugh ide on slave setting and my other hard drive on master is an 80gb

any suggestions?

im running windows xp without any service packs

You probably need to format the drive first.

Go to Disk Management from Administrative tools in Control Panel, after clicking Computer Management and format it from there. If you dont have SP1 or SP2 (recommended), you'll only be able to use 137 of that 160 GB.

Does it show in BIOS at all?

if yes, then do what airfoil suggests.
if no, then check connections and jumpers

then post back with lots more details - hw, drives, channels etc
