1608 : Unable to create InstallDriver Instance

help. when i try installing c&c generals, i get this msg "Unable to create InstallDriver Instance" when during the installshield process.
i tried checking online for a solution but no luck with the dcom. help

Basically the error says it cannot instantiate an InstallDriver instance, which is the InstallShield RunTime engine to work with MSI. In my case, this error occured on multiple Windows 2000 workstations without Microsoft Network Client portion in a Novell network. By default, the Microsoft Network Client is installed automatically in Windows 2000 unless you intentionally remove it. The error has been reported to InstallShield sometime in February 2002 for InstallShield Developer 7.1.

Apparently, the Windows 2000 workstation MUST have Microsoft Network Client installed in order to work with any setup program created by InstallShield Developer 7.x. My InstallShield setup program ran then fine after post-installing the Microsoft Network Client portion on those Windows 2000 workstations.

As far as I know, InstallShield still has not added the fix for this error in their latest service pack for InstallShield Developer 7.4 or at least I don't see the fix in the bug fix list of 7.4.

i see. well im running windows xp and it installs the client by default
