At work, I am trying to replace a video adapter that is not longer avilable for use -- new machine, and card is a SFF style.

The machine is a Dell GX270 1GB ram, 2.8Ghz P4. The Monitor is a Sony Trinitron GS-500 and supports 1600x1200 @ 32-Bit resolution @ 85hz currently.

The video adapter in the original machine is a AGP 8x 64MB GeForce MX 440. I will still be needing an AGP 4x/8x slot adapter, but something that will push at least this and not break the bank. Its for use with the Adobe Creative Suite 2.

I would like some reasonable suggestions. No SLI, No games, just functional Business Video for use in the Graphics department -- Web, Illustrator, and the rest of the CS2 package.

Thanks in advance.

Anything would work, really. Just go to Newegg and search for AGP video cards and sort by lowest price. I wouldn't go with the absolute cheapest, though...

Why would he need a 6600 or 7300? Those are fairly expensive and aimed at budget gamers. I'd just get another MX440 for about 30 dollars, AGP or PCI.

MX440 has poor 2D quality... for that reason I would shop something in GeForce 6 range, maybe 6200.
