1600mhz memory in this board?

I just picked up this MB (GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2) for a new build and ordered 4GB of 1333mhz memory with it. But I just ran across a good deal on 6GB of 1600mhz memory (3x2) and wanted to know if I should/can install that instead?
 
Yes it will work fine, but you would only get dual channel with 4GB. The board would likely default back to single channel when running 3 sticks instead of 2 or 4.

It should not revert to single channel; it'll do a form of Flex Mode basically.

Real world performance won't really be affected; synthetic benchmarks will be slightly slower than in normal 2x2 or 4x2 dual channel though.
