1600+ not Cold Booting when OCed....

Hi, got a 1600+ when oced, cold booting wouldn't work, had to press the reset button then it boots up. Or i change it back to stock speed, it works. Anyway to work this? thanks.

Mobo: Soyo Dragon Ultra Platinum
Cpu: 1600+
Ram: Kingston PC2100

Are you trying to change the multiplier or just the FSB? If you are attempting to change the multiplier you will need to "unlock" this option first. Here is an article if you wish to do that: Unlocking The Athlon XP. If you are only changing the fsb then just go in a few mhz increments and test for stability at each stage.

edited for spelling.

just the FSB.. i up it to 166FSB and ran prime95 overnight, over 10 hours and still going.... But when booting it just wont' start from a cold boot...

Could be a few things...Your PSU not railing evenly or your MoBo without a 5th divider would be my guess...

without 5th divider....... ok which mobo has that 5th divider? I NEED THAT!! 🙂 even though i lub the platinum... but.. performance comes first......

The psu.... i am using a 400 watt.... but in the soyo hardware monitor, the +3.3 is always 3.31 or 3.29 and the +5 is always 4.97... everything seems to be lower than it should be... except the +12 which is stable at 12.22

Vcore 1.75 @ 1.74
+3.3 @ 3.31 or 3.29
+5 @ 4.97 or 4.94
+12 @ 12.22
DDR 2.5 @ 2.46
AGP 1.5 @ 1.58 (always in the redzone, 1.56 back to the white zone)

I never have these under voltage problem before when i was on a P4... could the mobo be the problem?

Those voltages are nothing to worry about. They are well within spec and not very far from standard.

Have you tried a wee bit of extra vcore yet or is that already bumped? (Never owned an XP, just a T-bird)

soyo = sh*t. unstable mobo in general, and a particularly bad OCer. looks like you bought the hype and didn't read the reviews. sorry bud.

yes, i have tried upping the vcore voltage....

actually i did read the reviews, and they said it's good stable mobo... just the oc ability isn't that great, but I figure that if i unlock the cpu later on, and lower the FSB it might work better?
