The prices are insanely low, this is a must buy deal... nvidia and AMD are jacking up the prices for the current gen (48xx / GF9 / GTX 2xx) for minimal performance gains.. it is time to buy before they are out of stock!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814121224
Asus 8800GT 512 with good cooler
160$ - 30$ MIR and free shipping = 130$

http://www.tigerdirect.com/app...pNo=3859433&CatId=3670
XFX 8800GT 512MB with Zalman cooler.
160$ - 30$ MIR + 8$ shipping = 138$

I was going to give my brother my old 7900GS for his new computer that I am building, but at those prices I am selling the 7900GS on ebay and giving him one of those babies. (he is ok with not playing games at all, buy would like to, maybe... he got an E8400 though :p)

EDIT: Ordered... I wanted the XFX card, but since I live in texas I pay no tax for newegg, but I do pay tax on tiger direct, that made it the worst deal of the two.

good point... can an op please move this to hot deals?

You can of course shop around and get your favorite brand for similar prices. (although slightly more... those two are the best two deals around IMAO)

Back in November I spent $300 on an eVGA 8800GT 512MB SC. :(

Crazy how fast things change in the graphics industry.

If it makes you feel better I paid about that for my 2900 Pro. :p I don't really get worked up about price drops though, it was a very worthy upgrade from my 7900GS and I've been very happy with it. Just be happy you got 6 months with a good card you wouldn't have gotten if you waited.

hehe July 30, 2007 I bought 8800GTS 320mb for $300. Today, you can get 2 8800GTs for $270! (not even 12 months passed :()

Obviously, when you think about it it makes way more sense to get 3 x $200 graphics cards ever 1.5 years than to buy a single GTX 280 for $650. That's why it's always funny when people buy computer parts to "futureproof."

Holy sh*t! Hope that is a wicked GTS because I picked up my PNY XLR8 320MB GTS for ~$215 around the same time.

The general thought around here has been that SLI is not a very good upgrade option........... but that is probably going to change now with this latest generation of cards price/performance being what it is.
If one has a single 8800GT/GTS, they would be much better off buying a second one rather than get a 260 or 280.

This sounds like a good thing to me!

Having just bought an ASUS P5N-e SLI mobo for my new comp setup, along with a single 8800GT!

Right now, my screen is a beautiful samsung syncmaster 931C with a max 1280x1024

So my single 8800GT is running everything beautifully at least 60 FPS

C&C 3 max settings
Bioshock max settings (but i get some weird gamma error after i quit)

soon to get crysis but i figure it will also run at max settings

and if not! i wait a little bit for the 8800GT prices to go down a bit and pop another one in there for double performance in some scenarios

can you provide a link to that XFX 8800GT for 110?

Also, make sure it is the 512MB version... I have seen severeal even more amazing deals (then what I found) for the 8800GT only to find out it is the 256MB version...

There is also a 1GB version.

as far as I can tell:
http://www.ncix.com/products/i...8PYDF4&manufacture=XFX

It is 150 AFTER the 40MIR... not 150 - 40 = 110

Another 8800gt owner here, wondering which SLI mobo to buy to do a mediocre cpu overclocking and run 2x 8800gt without too many isssues. Any suggestions for such a SLI-mobo so I can snap another 8800gt?

From what I've read, the evga 750i ftw is really good for what you need.

think of all the enjoyment you had...

Me, I had to make due with a 7900GS until the 8800GTS 512 came out...

Hardware is a CONSUMEABLE... like food...
When you go eat expensive food you know the money is just going poof, but you have fun with it... same with hardware.

wow... it shot up to 190$ - 30MIR and got sold out...

I guess everyone else was seeing the writing on the wall :p..

this new "gen" of cards are so overpriced compared to the old one that they are selling out quick.
