He should've just watched it and not bootleg.... there's already a bootleg out so what's his motivation to do it anyways?

Camcorders account for 92 percent of all illegal copies of films that are sold online and on street corners worldwide, according to the MPAA.
People pay money for cams?:roll:

Ya know what I wonder? I wonder why the groups that do this stuff don't spend some time getting good audio recordings of the movie. Half the time it's godawful audio that is the problem, not video. If they'd just get two guys to sit on either side of the theater (or 5 if they want 5.1 sound) with tape recorders the releases would be so much nicer.

:D

OOOOOOR plug directly into the source and have SYNCH'd audio with the TELEprojection.

I heard this on the news this morning. Included with the story was a clip of an MPAA rep saying that they now view the theaters as a "war zone". Oh, what I would have given to beat him badly.

Regardless, this kid is an idiot.

I don't like piracy and would love to take the MPAA's side on this but (1) I think the punishment of jail sentence is far too extreme without any evidence of unlawful distribution, and (2) I'm still pissed as fsck about those "piracy is bad" ad spots they'd run before the start of every movie. I mean, there I am, in the fscking theater, paid ticket in one hand and popcorn in the other, paying for the movie in the most profitable way possible to the studios... and they gotta lecture me about the evils of piracy. Talk about insulting! :|

edit: and I have tickets to see Spiderman 2 tomorrow night.

They do that and I'll never see a movie in the theater for the rest of my life. Go after the real pirates, MPAA, not paying customers. Freakin' paranoid bastards!

Well that is what the projectionist that turned him in was doing. Turn in someone to get the heat off of you.
