16 ms + DVI or 12 ms + VGA

I'm looking for a 17" LCD that would be suitable for gaming on a budget of ~$300. For this budget it seems I can either get 12 ms + VGA input (Samsung 712N $280 AR this week) or I can get 16 ms + DVI input (several monitors are close to my $300 price range like the LG L1710BK or the Viewsonic VG710b).

I plan on eyeballing several monitors at the stores today, but I'd like some input from the AT crowd too.

I'm not an LCD user myself, but I've heard DVI increases image quality significantly on LCDs. 16ms response time should also be fine for gaming.
